Homer Avila devoted his life to dance. When he lost his right leg to cancer at forty-five, it seemed like his dance career and his dream were over. When asked if he would ever stop dancing Homer’s immediate response was, “Never.” He fulfilled this promise and continued dancing without the use of crutches or a prosthetic. What seemed like the end was only the beginning of the story. With the future unclear, Homer began documenting his life. Balance explores one man’s struggle to fulfill his dream, and the strength that art can provide.
